JUNE 2023 - NOW YOU CAN CONNECT YOUR FATMAP & STRAVA ACCOUNTS
You can now easily link your FATMAP and Strava accounts! You can log in with your Strava details at the click of a button and automatically synchronise your Strava adventures to your FATMAP profile. Check out our full FAQ guide here on connecting your accounts.
What’s more, if you're a Strava subscriber, or are planning on becoming one, we’re stoked to say you now also get full access to FATMAP Explore - this means you'll be able to experience the best of both FATMAP and Strava in one combined subscription.
March 2023 - See Your Local Avalanche Bulletin Now in FATMAP
Good news! Now, FATMAP users can access the local Avalanche Bulletin directly in the FATMAP app!
Available directly on the Map tab, you can now see the current avalanche bulletin, allowing you to make the best decisions for your day out in the snow and enjoy as much pow as possible.
January 2023 - FATMAP Is Now Part of Strava
We have exciting news: FATMAP is now part of Strava, the leading social platform for movement!
We started FATMAP with a mission to make outdoor experiences more accessible to more people around the world. Joining forces with Strava will accelerate that mission and open up exciting possibilities to build new maps and experiences that have never been possible before, enabling our communities to explore and discover even more.
NOVEMBER 2022 - NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH EVERIDE
We’re partnered up with Everide - the first mobile app available in Europe for buying and selling second-hand clothing and gear.
Along with mutual ambassadors like Kilian Jornet, Xavier De Le Rue, and Liv Sansoz, FATMAP Explore members also get an exclusive member-only privilege!
OCTOBER 2022 - Introducing the new Explore TAB
We’ve added a whole new Explore section in the FATMAP mobile app, dedicated to the Explore membership.
The new Explore tab brings all the latest latest privileges and benefits for Explore members directly to the app.
There will also be regular stories, features, gear guides and more, dedicated to inspiring you to get outdoors.
JUNE 2022 - MAJOR IMPROVEMENTS TO MAP DOWNLOADS & POIs
As well as improving the speed of offline map downloads, Explore members can now access our Global Topo & 10 different national topographic maps on the FATMAP mobile app in offline mode.
Points-of-Interest have also had a revamp, adding new ones such as alpine huts, weather shelters and trailheads, as well as improvements to our existing ones, making them brighter and easier to find.
MAY 2022 - GPX IMPORT NOW AVAILABLE IN THE FATMAP APP
You can now upload GPX files to the mobile app! Select from multiple activity types and then save them and share them on-the-go.
APRIL 2022 - FATMAP NOW IN ITALIAN & GERMAN
The FATMAP app is now available in both Italian and German! 🇮🇹 🇩🇪
Simply update your app to the latest version and the language will automatically change on the app.
March 2022 - In APP ROUTE PLANNING & SEND TO GARMIN
Explore members can now plan routes in the FATMAP app on existing trails or go off the beaten path and create custom routes. Select from multiple activity types and then save them and share them on-the-go.
Along with Suunto devices, Explore members can now also send any route or adventure from the FATMAP app to their Garmin watch too!
JANUARY 2022 - Revamped Content Discovery & ADDITION OF French Language
The first phase of the internationalisation of the product launched this week with the French language version of the app.
FATMAP also launched a revamped adventure discovery overlay on the Map tab, making routes and guidebooks even easier to see.
September 2021 - Creating Routes on-the-go with “Route To”
Often when you're on-the-go you might need to find the best way to get to a peak when there's not a trail already on the map, or you're following a route but have a change of plan and need to navigate to a different location.
Our latest feature, Route To, easily allows you to do these things! Tap the link to find out more!
August 2021 - enhanced adventure editing
Now you can edit your Adventures at any time to add photos, change the title, update the description and more.
Plus, you'll also now see that photos take priority on the thumbnails of all Adventures in the app - so don't forget to add your best shots!
JULY 2021 - Guidebook Embeds
Not only can you easily embed FATMAP routes on your website, but now we're excited to say you can also embed Guidebooks!
This means you can show off whole collections of routes on one embed, rather than just a single route.
MAY 2021 - MAJOR MAP RESOLUTION UPGRADE
For the past few years, we’ve been working on updating and improving both the summer and winter satellite imagery on the map, as well as the tools like terrain overlays, route drawing and waypoints.
We’re now more than excited to say we’ve made a huge improvement to the detail of the map itself, increasing the resolution by a factor of 8!
MAY 2021 - PARTNERSHIP WITH APPLE MAPS
We’ve been working behind-the-scenes with the mapping team at Apple and are more than excited to announce that you can now discover FATMAP Routes and Guidebooks on Apple Maps!
Launching with over 60 guides created by our local experts, we will be continuously adding more and sharing them across our channels!
APRIL 2021 - INTRODUCING THE NEW FATMAP APP
We've listened to the feedback from you, our community, and we've been working to bring you a completely revamped FATMAP app that’s faster and more intuitive to use.
With the four brand-new tabs (Map, Record, Discover and Profile), you’ll find everything you need to find the best mountain adventures, track your activities, understand the terrain and connect with the outdoor community!
MARCH 2021 - ADVENTURE TRACKING NOW IN THE FATMAP APP
One of the most requested features by our community has been the ability to record and track your adventures.
We’ve been working hard over the past months to bring this feature to you in the FATMAP app and we’re really excited to announce it’s finally here!
With the latest update on both iOS and Android, you will now see a Record button, allowing you to track your outdoor adventures, and then see and share them instantly in 3D!
JANUARY 2021 - CORTINA 2021 FIS ALPINE WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS
In a few weeks time the 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will be held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, a beautiful town nestled deep in the Italian Dolomites which has hosted ski races for almost a century and was the venue for the 1956 Winter Olympics.
FATMAP is proud to be working alongside Cortina with a comprehensive range of routes and Guidebooks to the area!
JANUARY 2021 - #ObjectifMontBlanc and #POWTreeRuns
We are excited to launch a range of community projects in the Alps this winter season…
In Chamonix we have the #ObjectifMontBlanc project, inspiring the community to get outdoors and try and achieve 4810 vertical metres in a day, a week, a month or this season! People can take part solo, as a pair or as a team!
We’ve also partnered up with POW Austria and all their athletes and community on their #TreeRuns campaign to raise money for a tree planting charity for every vertical metre climbed!
DECEMBER 2020 - NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH SUUNTO
We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered up with Suunto, the world-renown manufacturer of sports watches, dive computers and precision instruments for the toughest conditions.
FATMAP users can now connect their Suunto device to their FATMAP account to record adventures and share them with the community. Check out our step-by-step guide on connecting your accounts.

DECEMBER 2020 - NEW WINTER ATHLETE VIDEO SERIES
Two FATMAP Pro Ambassadors have just launched their new video series for the season:
Long time ambassador, Xavier De Le Rue, is back with his How to XV series, check out episode 1 here.
And Norwegian-based free rider, Nikolai Schirmer, has just released the first episode of his NOK series, watch episode 1 here.
We’re stoked to be working with both athletes and sharing their videos and routes on FATMAP!
NOVEMBER 2020 - NEW FACTION SKI MOVIE & ROUTE ON FATMAP
In their new film, the Faction Skis crew follow in the tracks of the mythic 'Patrouille des Glaciers' race, across the high alpine traverse in Switzerland linking Zermatt to Verbier.

NOVEMBER 2020 - NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH LIFEPASS
LifePass is a connected Ski pass with an integrated SOS feature that can keep you and your family safe on the slopes.
LifePass is launching this winter in the Alps, and we've partnered with them, enabling your location to be shared securely with friends and family on the FATMAP app.
NOVEMBER 2020 - CLIMBING CRAGS NOW ON FATMAP
We partnered up with UK Climbing to bring over 16,000 climbing crags and locations to FATMAP.
You can now search for them, filter them on the map, save them and find out even more info by tapping the link on each one to go to the UKC website.
